ABOUT THE GUIDE

Nestled between bushland and Brisbane Water, Koolewong is a community with a long history of living alongside the natural environment. In September 2019, the suburb was severely impacted by the Mount Hall Road bushfire, which threatened homes, disrupted daily life, and highlighted the area’s vulnerability to future bushfire events.

In response, JDA Co. developed the Koolewong Bushfire Resilience Guide – a practical, locally tailored resource that helps residents better understand bushfire risk and identify actions that can improve the resilience of their homes, properties, and neighbourhood. Combining local knowledge with clear design guidance and preparedness strategies, the guide aims to support a safer and more resilient future for the Koolewong community.
