Our brief was to provide a flexible family home, suited to the North Queensland climate.
Being in the tropics, the importance of shade meant that the design developed into a series of connected and open spaces under a large gable roof. Louvres and large door openings help connect the interior and exterior.
By selecting a similar pallette of timber and concrete through the spaces and in the joinery, a light and airy feel was able to be maintained through each room. This included several custom lighting pieces, such as the one over the kitchen island bench, maintaing a simplicty of materials throughout.
